The Olympic great delivered a sharp response to anyone wondering why she was there
Simone Biles has spent much of her career reminding people that they only see a fraction of her life. After Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, she offered the same reminder again.
The 11-time Olympic medalist was among the high-profile guests at Swift and Kelce’s July 3 ceremony at Madison Square Garden, attending the star-packed celebration with her husband, Indianapolis Colts safety Jonathan Owens
The couple later shared photos from the night on Instagram, where Biles drew praise for her blood-red DO LONG dress and jewelry from Maison Spoiled High Jewelry.
Most of the reaction was complimentary, but one comment questioned why Biles had been invited to the wedding at all.
“When has Simone Biles and Taylor Swift even spoken to each other?” the user wrote.
Biles didn’t offer a timeline, a defense or a public breakdown of her friendship with Swift. Instead, she replied with a line that quickly became the story.
“Remember this, I only show y’all what I want y’all to know,” Biles wrote.
It was a short response, but it landed with the confidence of someone used to outsiders filling in blanks about her life.
Biles and Swift have shown mutual respect before
The comment also ignored the public history between Biles and Swift, which stretches back several years.
During the 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials, Biles used Swift’s song “Ready for It” during the opening section of her floor routine.
When NBC Olympics & Paralympics shared the performance on X, Swift responded with clear admiration.
“Watched this so many times and still unready,” Swift wrote. “She’s ready for it tho.”
Their public connection began even earlier, during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, when Swift narrated an NBC promo about Biles after the gymnast withdrew from several events while dealing with the “twisties,” a dangerous condition that affects a gymnast’s air awareness.
“What do we want from our heroes?” Swift said in the promo. “What do we expect from them? What do we need from them? What happens when they surprise us?”
Swift praised Biles not only for her talent, but for the honesty she showed during one of the most scrutinized moments of her career.
“She is perfectly human,” Swift said. “And that’s what makes it so easy to call her a hero.”
Biles makes boundary clear
Biles was visibly moved by the tribute at the time, writing: “I’m crying , how special. I love you @taylorswift13.
Swift replied with her own message of admiration.
“I cried watching YOU,” Swift wrote. “I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch you all these years, but this week was a lesson in emotional intelligence
